Common Crimes

Assaultive/Sex Crimes

• Domestic Violence
  An assault or battery against a person with a close relationship.
   
• Felonious Assault
  Attacking or threatening another person with a dangerous weapon.
   
• Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder or By Strangulation
  A physical attack on someone meaning to seriously injury them, or by strangling or choking someone.
   
• Criminal Sexual Conduct
  An array of offenses involving inappropriate sexual contact (including traditional “rape” and “molestation” charges).
   
• Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material (“Child Pornography”)
  Knowingly possessing images or audio recordings of minors being sexually abused, engaging in sexual activity, or engaging in lewd displays of nudity.
   

Public Safety/Order Crimes

• Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing
  an Officer
  Efforts to prevent police, firefighters, or emergency workers from doing their duties.
   
• Fleeing and Eluding Police (3rd Degree)
  Refusing to stop when ordered to do so by police.
   
• Filing a False Police Report
  Reporting an incident that did not happen, or knowingly reporting false facts about a real incident.
   
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  Carrying a gun, knife, brass knuckles, stun gun, or other weapon partially concealed, or carrying a pistol in a vehicle (even if not concealed).
   
• Felon in Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition
  Possessing a gun or ammunition after being convicted of a felony.

Drug Crimes

• Possession of Controlled Substances/Analogues
  General offense of possessing prohibited drugs (excluding cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and other drugs with specific offenses).
   
• Possession of Cocaine/Heroin (Less than 25 Grams)
  Possession of small amounts of cocaine, heroin, or other prohibited drugs.
   
• Possession of Methamphetamine
  Possession of any amount of methamphetamine.
   
• Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 1/2 Controlled Substances (Less than 50 Grams)
  Manufacturing, selling, handing out, or otherwise distributing cocaine, heroin, and other prohibited drugs.
   
• Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (Less than 5 KG)
  Manufacturing, selling, handing out, or otherwise distributing marijuana.
   
• Maintaining a Drug House/Vehicle
  Providing a place for people to sell, use, or store illegal drugs
   

Traffic Offenses

• Reckless Driving
  Driving an automobile on a public road with a willful or wanton disregard for the safety of people or property.
   
• Open Intoxicant in a Vehicle
  Having an alcoholic beverage open in a vehicle (as either a passenger or driver).
   
• Drunk Driving (3rd Offense)
  Driving an automobile on a public road after consuming intoxicating liquors, or while having any amount of controlled substances in your body.

Property/Theft Crimes

• Retail Fraud
  Stealing from a store (includes both “shoplifting” and organized theft).
   
• Larceny in a Building
  Stealing while inside a building, ship, boat, or building used by the public.
   
• Breaking and Entering with Intent
  Breaking into a building or shipping transportation to commit a felony or steal.
   
• Home Invasion (1st/2nd/3rd Degree)
  Breaking into a home to commit a crime.
   
• Uttering & Publishing a Forgery
  Creating or altering legal documents or checks to defraud.
   
• Possession of a Financial Transaction Device without Consent
  Stealing, retaining, or using a stolen or fake credit card, gift card, etc.
   
• Embezzlement
  Stealing money or property entrusted to an employee, trustee, bailee, etc.
   
• Unlawful Driving Away of
  an Automobile
  Stealing a car, or “borrowing” it without permission.
   
• Receiving or Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle
  Taking possession of (or hiding) a stolen car, truck, motorcycle, or other vehicle.
